The Taiwan International Health Training Center in strengthening medical care development around the world is success...

Established in 2002 by the MOHW, the center is part of government efforts to realize the principle in the World Health Organization Constitution stating that “the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being.”
The facility is operated from Taipei Hospital in New Taipei City and comprises a network of 56 public and private sector medical institutions. It delivers courses spanning cutting-edge medical technology, emergency and health care management and traditional Chinese medicine. TIHTC also shares Taiwan's experiences in implementing the National Health Insurance program, the country's world-leading universal health care system.
According to the MOHW, the center is sparing no effort in promoting exchanges with the 18 target countries of the government's New Southbound Policy. Related efforts include the signing of cooperation agreements and the establishment of sister relationships.
By the end of 2017, the facility had inked memorandums of understanding with 10 medical institutions in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Under the pacts, professionals receive advanced medical training and participate in jointly organized seminars, strengthening the health and well-being of people across the region, the MOHW said.
Organ Transplant - Taiwan's hospitals have good 3-year survival rates for organ transplant, which surpass the average of the world. For example, the 3-year survival rates of liver transplant is 91% in Taiwan, whilst the average of the world is around 78%. Besides, other organ transplant also hits its record in Taiwan, like the 3-year survival rates of kidney transplant is 98%, the 3-year survival rates of heart transplant is 87%, and the 3-year survival rates of lung transplant is 51%.
Cardiovascular Surgery - Cardiac surgeons at Taiwan's hospital are superior at heart transplantation and other cardiovascular surgeries. Statistically, Taiwan performs more than 5,000 cardiac diagnostics and treatment procedures per year, including 100 heart transplantation cases, numerous CABG, valve replacement, cardiac catheterization, stent cases and etc.
Orthopedics - Taiwan is the regional leader in orthopedics. Taiwan has developed several subspecialty in the field of orthopedics. These subspecialties are mainly classified by parts, such as spinal surgery, hand surgery, joint reconstruction, trauma orthopedics, sports medicine, bon oncology, pediatric orthopedics, and so on. Taiwan's hospital is especially good at joint replacement and sports medicine. There are 20,000 cases of joint replacement an year on average. Almost every regional and teaching hospital performs the procedure up to
US' standards. Moreover, Taiwan widely uses MIS surgery, computer-aided navigation and rotation osteotomy to reduce the tissue trauma during operation and shorten the restoration time significantly. In general, patients can take care of themselves the day after the surgery and return to their normal life within two weeks.
Gynecology & Obstetrics - The success pregnancy rate is up to 37.7% and the live birth rate is 27.7% in Taiwan. Taiwan also provides many reproductive techniques including artificial insemination, IVF-ET, ICSI, blastocyst transfer and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, along with infertility counseling.
Plastic Surgery - Plastic surgeons in Taiwan have been standing an important position in the field of plastic surgery worldwide. Medical doctor in Taiwan have created and improved many core surgical techniques and trained many plastic surgeons from all over the world.
Reconstructive surgery: Taiwan's surgeon are good at reconstructive surgery, especially for cleft lip and palate and craniofacial reconstruction. Taiwan has accumulated more than 30,000 patients since 1978, and achieving 100% success rate.
Cosmetic/Aesthetic surgery: The main cosmetic procedures you can learn from Taiwan includes breast augmentation, liposuction, double eyelid surgery, facial bone reduction, endoscope cosmetic surgery and etc.
Neurosurgery - The surgery survival rate is higher than 99% in Taiwan, and only 2.6% cases suffered from recoverable complications, whilst no patients had permanent neural damage. Besides, many hospitals in Taiwan have Symbol of National Quality (SNQ) certificate of their navigation surgery system or surgery platform, which guarantee the safety and quality of the operation room. Some hospitals in Taiwan even have cutting-edge technology which applied virtual reality (VR) in neurosurgery training.
Others - Besides the above-mentioned advanced medical specialties, Taiwan also has some other specialties which are outstanding around the world, such as Minimally Invasive Surgery, Urological Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation and Nursing.
